A vanishing pen will make your life so much easier, particularly when making a Roman blind (marking rod pockets, stab stitches, side turns etc). There are various brands on the market.

SCISSORS

As a minimum to make your soft furnishings you'll need a good pair of scissors. We've tried many pairs over the years including the traditional heavy all metal pairs. We currently use these Fiskars 27cm Tailor's shears. We like them because they are VERY sharp, have a long blade, cut really well and are light to hold and use.

LONG T BAR

A long Tbar (longer than the fabric width) used in conjunction with a square edged table makes marking and cutting fabric lengths much much easier. If you don't have a square edged table then just get a 1.5m ruler

ROD CUTTERS

USED FOR
Cutting fibre glass rods with a hacksaw causes fine splinters that can stick in your fingers and be painful. These cable cutters make an much quicker, neater and safer job when cutting the rods.
